2205 stainless steel is a duplex stainless steel, characterized by a dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite. This combination offers a balance of excellent strength and superior corrosion resistance, particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion. With approximately 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum, 2205 provides higher resistance to corrosion and cracking than traditional austenitic grades. It is widely used in environments with high chloride levels, such as marine, oil and gas industries, chemical processing, and pollution control equipment. 2205 stainless steel pipes are also favored in applications requiring high strength and durability, like heat exchangers, piping systems, and structural components.
